See What’s Cooking With Junior League of Fort Worth’s Kids in the Kitchen!

The Junior League of Fort Worth, an organization that has educated and promoted volunteerism in our community for over 85 years, is an ardent supporter of the fight against the epidemic of childhood obesity. To combat the problem, the organization believes it is necessary to educate children and their families about nutrition and fitness via the Kids in the Kitchen initiative. The goal of Kids in the Kitchen is to engage children in our local schools and empower them and their families to make healthy lifestyle choices in order to reverse the growth in childhood obesity.  With the generous support of sponsors such a Mayfest Inc., JLFW’s reach is able to grow year after year.

Three Unconventional Play Date Ideas in Fort Worth!

My son and I love shopping at Target, but after the cashiers start remembering your name, it’s sometimes best to change up your routine!  We love going to the following locations to escape boredom and have some fun!

  1. IKEA!  Ikea is a great place to take the kids because of Småland!  Småland is a play area that you can drop your kids off at for 60 minutes, free of charge!  As long as they are between the ages of 4 and 10 and are potty trained, they can play!  While they are playing, you can enjoy your shopping experience knowing your children are safe and cared for.   If you are an IKEA Family member, you can even relax and enjoy a FREE coffee in the cafeteria while your kids are having fun!ikea
  2. Mardel!  Mardel Christian Bookstore and Education Supplier is owned by Hobby Lobby and has a great selection of books, journals, wall hangings, jewelry and toys.  Their toy section has a train table for the kids to play on and quite the variety of Melissa and Doug products (our favorite!).  Enjoy a free coffee from the coffee station near the front door while watching your kids play with the trains!Mardel
  3. Hulen Mall!  The Hulen Mall recently unveiled a new play area in a storefront down the Sears wing.  Comfy benches and plenty of charging plugs are available so the kids can play while you recharge.  Kids can play memory games on a large wall screen or play on various playground equipment, including a tree-house, butterfly and caterpillar!Hulen Mall

Town Talk Haul!

This weekend, I mentioned on my Facebook page how much I love Town Talk.  If you haven’t been there before, Town Talk is a discount grocery store in Fort Worth.  They specifically buy items that suppliers don’t want or can’t use.  Because of this, they are able to sell them for a fraction of the retail prices.  I, personally, love Town Talk because of the specialty products they carry.  They often have vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free, and gluten-free items.

I made a video to show you guys just how far $30 can go!  Check it out below and tell me some of your favorite products!

Why the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo Will Be the Most Fun You’ll Have All Month!

The Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo is a legendary event which runs from January 12th through February 3rd and is held at the Will Rogers Memorial Center and surrounding grounds.  The All Western Parade, held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11 a.m. in Downtown Fort Worth, kicks off the event.

Throughout the month, livestock will be shown and auctioned, carnival rides will grace the grounds, and several rodeos will take place.  The Coors Light Roadhouse will have live music nearly every evening of the event, making this the perfect date night!

This year, Central Market is sponsoring the Moo-seum Experience, which means your grounds admission will also get you into three of Fort Worth’s finest museums – the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, the Cattle Raisers Museum and the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History.  If you’re already a member of any of these museums, Central Market will make sure you get free admission to the Stock Show grounds!

I am beyond excited to enjoy everything that the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo has to offer.  I hope you are, too!
